Sexual health and wellbeing

Your sexual health plays an important part in your overall health and wellbeing. We can give you help and advice over any sexual concerns you may have, as well as testing for any sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

These tests are straightforward, totally discreet and confidential.

So, if you’re concerned you’ve been exposed to an STI or had unprotected sex and have worries, it’s best to get yourself checked out.

We can provide you with peace of mind and reassurance, prescribing treatment where appropriate.

Popular STI screening and treatment

We can test and provide treatment for many STIs. They are often easy and painless to deal with, when diagnosed early. Leave them and they may become serious, even making you infertile.

What is Chlamydia?

Chlamydia is one of the most common STIs in the UK and is passed from person to person through unprotected sex. Most people infected with chlamydia won’t experience any symptoms, but it can cause a burning sensation or pain when peeing, unusual discharge and pain in the stomach or testicles.

How it can be treated

Chlamydia can be easily treated by taking a course of antibiotics. The treatment can differ if you suffer from allergies, are pregnant or/and are breast feeding.

What is Gonorrhoea?

Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted infection which can be caught from unprotected sex. The bacteria are commonly found in fluid from the vagina or penis. Most people infected with gonorrhoea won’t have any visible symptoms, but symptoms can include yellow or green discharge from the genital area, pain when urinating and bleeding in-between periods for women.

How it can be treated

As with chlamydia, gonorrhoea can be treated with antibiotics, usually with just one injection and one oral tablet.

What is Syphilis?

Syphilis is a bacterial infection that is usually caught by having sex with someone who is already infected. It can cause serious long-term problems if left untreated, and can be caught more than once even if you have been treated before. Symptoms aren’t always obvious but can include small, painless sores or ulcers on the penis, vagina or around the anus; a blotchy red rash on the palms on the hands or soles of the feet; fever and general fatigue.

How it can be treated

Syphilis can usually be treated with a short course of antibiotics.
